A few days ago, I watched MPs thumping their chests in parliament threatening to re-introduce the Anti-Homosexuality bill. One after another, they took to the podium spitting fire against a group of people that have become the easiest political darts that politicians launch each time they want to engage in cheap political games.
This is not the first time since 2014 that the Ugandan Parliament has attempted to retable the bill. In fact, one of the LGBT community leaders noted that this has become a trend for Parliament to bring up the topic of homosexuality every time they need to redeem themselves or are caught in unpleasant situations.
One of the main characters in this movie is Keem Love Black a celebrated Ugandan transgender woman who has boldly used her social media platforms to change people’s perceptions towards transgender people. Keem Love said that she was so happy about taking part in this production and hopes that it will help change more attitudes of Ugandans towards transgender people and as well the entire LGBTI community.

Clare currently coordinates the Equality and Non-Discrimination program at Chapter Four Uganda, a civil liberties organization that focuses on the promotion of civil and political rights for all. Between 2012 and 2014, she coordinated a national coalition of over 50 organizations that used their collective power to fight against the 2009 Anti-Homosexuality bill. Her commitment to continue working on LGBTQ rights issues was tested when she was publicly exposed by a Ugandan media outlet weeks after the anti-gay law was institutionalized.
