Today as we mark International Human Rights Day, human rights defenders have called for solidarity if we are to end the violation of human rights.
Kasha Jaqueline Nabagesera the Executive Director Kuchu Times Media Group said, “On this day we should note that, partnerships, solidarity and resilience is paramount if we are to win the fight against human rights violations, abuses, injustices and inequalities.”
Dr Frank Mugisha the Executive Director Sexual Minorities Uganda said, “To all our allies , partners and friends, continue speaking up for the Human Rights for LGBTQ persons.”
“Today we honor the human rights of all people in their diversity and encourage everyone to stand up for human rights by ending discrimination and addressing inequalities in order to ensure a world where human rights of all persons are respected.” Says a statement from Human Rights Awareness and Promotion Forum.
This year the day is being marked under the theme “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.”
This day is observed to promote equality, peace, justice, freedom and the protection of human dignity. Every individual is entitled to rights irrespective of race, colour, religion, sex, language, or social status.
