My name is Dante Simbwa and am trans-male bisexual sex worker.

In 2015, my colleague Channel and I travelled to northern Uganda with 60 copies of the second edition of Bombastic Magazine which focused on Transgender persons. We distributed them to different health care facilities and medical students with the main aim of advocating for non discriminatory services for key populations.

We always had to introduce ourselves in all offices that we visited but this always came with the challenge of people misgendering us.

However, my best moment that came with being given the opportunity to be part of the distribution team was the fact that a few medical students asked us questions which included if we were promoting homosexuality. Now, this was a topic worth tackling. I loved the experience and can’t wait to do it again.

It is clear and consistent that the audience will always be entertained with news and stories through Kuchu Times digital media platform which tells authentic stories from LGBTIQ persons and the sex workers community to increase visibility, accelerate acceptance and build understanding amongst our growing societies in Uganda. -Dante Simbwa.
