ABOUT TRANS YOUTH INITIATIVE-UGANDA
Trans Youth Initiative-Uganda (TYI-Uganda) is a rural transgender youth women, transgender youth sex workers and gender diverse youth led organization in Mbarara, western Uganda.
We exist to promote legal gender recognition, acceptance, create safe spaces, advance and protect health and human rights of rural transgender youth women, transgender youth sex workers and gender diverse youth, enhance access to gender affirming health care and HIV services, combat stigma and discrimination, promote visibility, enhance socio-economic empowerment, safety and security as well as research and documentation.
POSITION: FINANCE MANAGER
We are looking to recruit a Finance Manager is responsible for the management of finance function of the TYI-Uganda in accordance with International Public Sector Accounting Standards and the TYI-Uganda Accounting Manual to ensure proper accountability for and efficient utilization of the TYI-Uganda financial resources.
Location: Kamukuzi, Mbarara
Reports to: Senior Management team
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure preparation of timely and accurate reports for senior management to facilitate decision- making and planning.
- Ensure financial management of the organization, which shall include budgeting, budgetary control, Cash flow planning and accounting.
- Liaise with external auditors for timely auditing of the financial statements.
- Direct and participate in projects requiring input and advice from the finance functions.
- Act as an advisor in both statutory and functional boards of the organization’s partners.
- Collect and record all monies on behalf of the organization which shall include but not limited to earnings and donations.
- Be in charge of collecting and keeping in custody all funds raised to run the program of the organization.
- Control the income and expenditure of the organization.
- Prepare and circulate financial statements to all members, donors and others stakeholders when ever need arises.
- Design and Implement resource mobilization strategies for the organization.
- Disburse finance and pay all outgoings of the organization under the direction of the BOD.
- Timely preparation and processing of payments by ensuring that all payments are reasonable, allowable, allocable to the project. This includes liaising with procurement to ensure that all payments are adequately supported.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration or a related field with a bias in Finance or Accounting from a recognized academic institution, CPA at least Level 2 is an added advantage.
- A minimum of 3 years work experience in Accounting and Financial Management, 2 of the 3 years’ minimum experience must have been obtained at a Middle Management level in a reputable Organization.
POSITION: PROGRAMS DIRECTOR
We are looking to recruit a Programs Manager who will be responsible for leading the planning and implementation of the programs and projects according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors.
Location: Kamukuzi, Mbarara
Reports to: Team leader/Executive Director
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To assess, design, implement, monitor, evaluate and report on programmes.
- To participate in the implementation of the projects under the different programs.
- To prepare and organize project activity, weekly, monthly, quarterly and Annual reports, publications and narrative documentations when needed.
- Carry out various management and oversight assignment including travel within
the country and perform any other related duties.
- Identifying, supporting and promoting initiative approaches to meeting challenges in
the program area.
- Assist in development of funding proposals to ensure sustainability of the organization.
- Approval of activity budgets as may be prepared by the project officers.
- Reporting all developments pertaining his/her respective program to the Executive Director.
- Work with Communications officer and staff to develop marketing plans to recruit
new volunteers and clients in line with organizational objectives.
- Conduct and compile annual volunteer satisfaction survey.
- Recruit, place, retain and support volunteers.
- Coordinate the results based management planning and reporting process.
- Carry out any other duties as may be assigned to her by the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities, Public Health or related field
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Management or a related field or graduate training in project planning and training will be an added advantage.
- At least three years’ experience in a leadership position in a national or local organization.
